SPORTS -BACK-

NICE students take a keen interest in Sports. Sports programme covers a wide range of activities encouraging physical fitness and development of personal and group skills on a competitive and recreational basis.
Opportunities of competitions are provided and our students enjoy the challenges of competition and of the pursuit of excellence in sport for its own sake.

Team Sports and Athletics
The school houses a playing field for soccer, cricket, athletics and track events and a court for basket ball and volley ball.

All teams are composed of 5 junior and senior teams. The students participate in inter-house and inter-school matches.

The annual inter-house sports meet is held in January for both Grade students and the Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Martial Arts
Special Tae-Kwon-Do classes (Korean Martial Arts -Olympic style sports fighting) are held after school. Most of the primary and grade school students participate in these classes.

Indoor Games
Table tennis and chess are the most popular games among NICE students. They play in inter-house and inter-school matches.

Water Sports
Swimming is a compulsory subject in the school curriculum and students take swimming lessons once a week in a near by pool. The students are taught all styles and synchronized swimming. Water polo and life saving techniques are also part of the curriculum.

SCIENCE LABORATORY -BACK-

Theory and practical work are common and significant components of science education. The NICE science laboratory is engaged in a variety of experimental and theoretical enquiries. The aim of carrying out practical lessons is to develop students’ scientific skills, knowledge of how to plan and perform investigations and the ability to critically analyse results. Two of the most important goals with lab work are to act as a link between theory and practice and to enhance laboratory skills. Science teachers guide their students and encourage them to learn through their experiences and then share with other students.

“Seeing is believing” is the key saying when it comes to science lessons. Our students enjoy science lessons together with practical work.
The laboratory is fully equipped for all the practical elements involved in the science lessons up to GCE London O-Levels.

COMPUTER LABORATORY -BACK-

The computer lab at NICE is modern and well equipped to cater to the individual needs of our students. Computers are Windows XP and have Internet access with broadband. The computers are updated regularly with new programmes and software. Currently they all have Adobe workshop and page maker and languages such as Visual basic, Java, and Pascal. Students from Grade 1 to London O-Level learn this subject and individual use of internet and e-mail is granted for projects and homework.

LIBRARY -BACK-

The NICE library consists of over 5,000 books. New books are purchased regularly from U.K, Australia, America and Canada to maintain the interest of our avid readers.
Authors include many of the most well-known and popular children’s authors, Roald Dahl, J.K. Rowling, Emily Rodda, Anthony Horowitz and Dr. Seuss as well as the classics such as C.S Lewis, Jules Verne, etc.
Students have one dedicated library period per week as well as being able to return and borrow books during recess.
Popular series includes
I wonder why…
Magic Tree House
Secrets of Droon
Too Cool
For the older students Focus Magazine ”The worlds best science and technology magazine” keeps them up to date on new discoveries and ideas and an O-Level classics and general fiction section to cater for this age- group was also opened last year.
The library database was designed by a parent volunteer Mr. Garry Lynock from the UK with the help of his wife Lisa.

CANTEEN -BACK-

The school canteen provides students with home cooked nutritious meals, which are prepared from the freshest ingredients on a daily basis. A choice of several dishes, healthy snacks and fresh juices is available and the menu is changed regularly.

To buy food from the canteen, students have a choice to pay directly at the counter or they may avail the system of money deposit at the NICE office on a monthly basis and need not handle money directly.
